LGCA/Corvette Racing News
Club Over The Road and
Drag Racing Contributed by M. Clark and F. Thompson
Our racing season has ended for 2011,
join us in the spring of 2012.
September
9 - LGCA Drag Racing
The LGCA Team
results from Friday September 9th can be summed
up in two words---we sucked!!!! There were 13
racers and only four made the second round. We
wouldn't have done that well if one opponent had
not red lighted and two others broke out. Only
one of us made the third round that was it. Even
with our poor showing we only slipped one place
to 11th in team standings.
The last race of
the year is on Friday September 23rd. Hopefully
we will have better news and a full report
summarizing the years efforts. this will be your
last chance to take part or just observe.
August 12
– LGCA Drag Racing
The LGCA team had nine racers come out for a night of
racing down the straight track. It was an exciting
night for the Hot Rod racers as Billy Devore made it all
the way into the sixth round before losing a close one.
A couple of other racers made it to the fourth round.
Good job team!
The LGCA team currently stands in 10th place
and the 5-man team is in 11th place. Billy
Devore is the top single racer, currently tied for 12th
place in the Hot Rod class. The next Club Clash race is
September 9th and the final race of the 2011
season is September 23rd.
July 29 – LGCA
Drag Racing
The
LGCA team had 12 racers on a beautiful summer night. Four
cars made it into the 3rd round, unfortunately
no one made it to the 4th round. Team LGCA
currently stands in 11th place in the team
standings and 15th place in the 5-man team
category. The next Club Clash race is Friday, August 12,
check the calendar for details.
July 9, 2011
ALMS at Lime Rock
Corvette
finishes 9th (car #3) and 10th (car #4) after early race damage
to both cars. Checkout the Corvette site, or replay the
streaming video on
ESPN3, for more details.
June 11 - 12 -
2011 Le Mans
Congratulations to General
Motors-Chevrolet Division double Corvette wins at this years Le
Mans. The American Corvette Racing team of Garcia,
Beretta, Milner take the GTE Pro class followed by a first place
finish in the GTE Am class for the French Larbre Competition
Team of Gardel, Canal, and Bornhauser.
June 10 - LGCA
Drag Racing
Another
great turnout of racers and fans. We had 16 racers that
were able to produce 9 team wins. Billy DeVore made it the
farthest by getting to the third round. Currently, team
LGCA stands in 12th place and the 5-man team is
in 14th place. Terry Nuss is the top LGCA racer
in the Hot Rod class at 36th place. John Hoy is
in 33th place in the Top Street class. The next
Club Clash race is Friday, July 29, check the calendar for
details. It’s a lot of fun to race or just watch all of the
action, come on out and see for yourself.
May 27 - LGCA
Drag Racing
The second
race of the season drew
15 racers from our club which was another great turnout.
LGCA moved up from being
tied for 15th to tied for 10th in total team stats out
of a field of 28. In the "5 racer" competition we are
still tied for 15th. Five drivers made it to the
second round however none advanced any further.
Our most successful racer
this season has been Terry Nuss by making it to round
three in both events. Ron Chrysler and Dwight Hargis
have both done well.
The next race is Friday
June 11th so come out and give it a try or cheer on
your fellow club members. It is really a social event
too.
