Although
the weather was far from being the greatest for a drive to
Lincoln, Hastings, or Syracuse, Nebraska, we had a great time
and experienced a terrific three days.
Our
visit to Nebraska started in Lincoln at Bill and Joyce Smiths
Museum of American Speed. One can rightfully assume
that each member of Looking Glass Corvette Association is an
auto enthusiast, and as one we guarantee your thirst for
examples of automotive memorabilia. Over 135,000 sq ft
houses everything from lunch boxes, to peddle cars, experimental
auto engines, and cars! cars! cars! They told us we could
take all of the pictures we wanted but asked that we not publish
them, so we have included their web site hot link for you to
cruise their site. If you ever get a chance to visit the
Museum take it.
On
Friday we drove from Lincoln to the Motorsport Park Hastings 14
corner, 2.15 mi. race track in Hastings, Nebraska. Being a
novice owner/driver of a Corvette I have never before legally
sped on street or track. The drive was a gas and they
treated us like royalty. If you are interested in seeing
some of their pictures you can visit their site at
MPH, ours will be published
as soon as we sort through all that we took.
We have arrived at the MPH garage!

Saturday, the 21st, we visited a private collection of Mark and
Sheri Pieloch in Syracuse, NE. Their collection includes
unmodified cars of the past six decades. Of special
interest to me were the eight Corvette Indy pace cars, a couple
Mustang Indy pace cars and the '56 Indy Chevy Bellaire
Convertible. All 137 cars in the collection are as they
were when delivery was taken from the factory, around 1/4
have less than 200 miles on the odometer, and I don't recall the
number that went through a frame off restoration. This is
one very cool collection as you can see in the following
slideshow.
As an
experiment I have added some YouTube video's of our visit to the
private collection in Syracuse, Ne. Now remember, this is
an experiment and if it works out I will try to include more
video's in the future.
The
following video was taken in the same Chevy Room as the
snapshots in our previous slideshow on this page.
(Excuse the tip of my finger during the latter part of the
video.)
This video is almost exclusively of Torino's
and Mustangs, but you'll notice there were a half dozen
Mopar's.
With the exception of a single Study (57' ?
) this room was filled with 50's Fords and Chevrolet's.
If you are like me, old as dirt, this room brings back more
memories than I car to note of my high school days.
